FLORENCE: FORM & SPACE
June 23-28, 2026

Join me in Italy this summer for an immersive exploration of visual form and perspective. Florence—the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance—will be our classroom for this five-day workshop. We will experience this beautiful city with its world-class museums, vibrant gardens, and breathtaking cityscapes through daily deep dives into its artistic legacy.

Our focus will be on two of the main tenets of the Italian Renaissance: the surge towards naturalistic form, and the use of linear and atmospheric perspective to create depth.

Mornings will begin with an informal conversational Italian class, followed by 3-hour museum sketching sessions to study historical masterpieces. You will learn to use a variety of traditional drawing techniques and materials ideal for sketching: graphite, charcoal, pen, and pastel pencils. After a midday break, we’ll meet again in the afternoon and head outdoors to draw and paint the architecture, sculpture, and natural beauty of this vibrant city. Some plein air locations will allow paint, but I will focus primarily on drawing materials for demos and museum sketching.

All levels are welcome, but space is limited—12 maximum. Reserve your spot today!
